HealthBarn USA proudly presents this exclusive upcoming Culinary Gathering: Feed your Eyes for Good Health, Wednesday, January 16, 2019 from 6:30 – 9:00 pm featuring Dr. Simki Shah, owner Advanced Family Eyecare and Stacey Antine, MS, RDN, founder, HealthBarn USA. Stacey and Dr. Shah both love to cook and believe food is medicine for the whole body, especially our precious eyes that give us the gift of sight. They teamed up to offer a one-of-kind culinary evening featuring a variety of dishes to satisfy foodies, but powered up to give a super boost to your vision.
Dr. Simki will share her expertise about eye care including dry eyes, macular degeneration, and glaucoma and provide the facts in support of good nutrition and eye health. While boosting your brain power, you will be indulging in delicious dishes prepared with super foods for your eyes, mind and body, too! Bonus: get a macular pigment screening score, it’s as important as your blood pressure reading!

About Dr. Simki Shah, Optometrist: Dr. Shah opened Advanced Family EyeCare in Glen Rock, NJ to offer a wellness approach to maintaining eye health through a healthy diet and lifestyle. She earned her Bachelors of Arts in Biology from Rutgers Unviersity in 1999 and her Doctor of Optometry from Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 2003. She then completed her primary care residency from Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 2004.
A proud member of AOA (American Optometric Association) and NJSOP (New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians), Dr. Shah’s specialties include Dry Eyes, Ocular Nutrition, Glaucoma, Diabetic Eye Care, and Macular Degeneration. She is a Board Certified Optometrist. She truly believes in the concept of using food as medicine to prevent or delay the onset of vision threatening conditions.
In high school, Dr. Shah volunteered at a hospital and really enjoyed her experience in the healthcare field. She observed how the doctors collaborate when treating patients. This experience facilitated her decision to make healthcare a career. Dr. Shah currently lives in Bergen County. Dr Shah is married to a podatrist who practices in North Bergen and Jersey City, New Jersey. Together, they enjoy spending time with their twins.
About Stacey Antine, MS, RDN: Stacey Antine is a registered dietitian who holds a Master’s of Science in Food, Nutrition and Dietetics from New York University. Alarmed by the long list of lifestyle diseases (obesity, heart disease, diabetes, etc.) faced by children today, she founded HealthBarn USA to connect children to natural foods and where they come from. Expanding her commitment to help families eat healthier, she started HealthBarn Foundation and it’s first project Healing Meals, a food gifting program for families with ill children and seniors in need. She has been featured on The Rachael Ray Show, named women entrepreneur to watch by Business Week, featured as “Our Hero” by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics for her dedication to children’s health where she is also a member and honored as Today’s Honoree by the #1 Blog for Recognizing the Works of Others. She was appointed to the Academy’s RDN Communications Council for its National Kids Eat Right campaign and received a Certificate of Training in Childhood and Adolescent Weight Management by the Commission on Dietetic Registration. Stacey Antine aims to help more parents and children get healthy by having fun and raising their nutritional literacy with her first book, Appetite for Life: The Thumbs-Up, No-Yucks Guide to Getting Your Kid to be a Great Eater – including over 100 Kid-Approved Recipes, published in September 2012 by HarperOne, an imprint of Harper Collins Publishers, in hardcover and as an eBook.
